CHOOSING THE RIGHT COLOR COMBINATIONS:
To design a sign the looks great it is important to select colors that are easy to see and enhance the message you are trying to get across. We want to give your signs the best chance of being noticed, read, and remembered!!
There can be different color combinations depending on the signs location, as well. A sign up close can have more colors, while a sign on a road side needs only two strong contrasting colors to catch eyes and relay your message. Keep it simple is key to colors, as too many colors can distract from your message.
There is a great important to the contrast.... hue and value when choosing a foreground and background combination. Opposite colors on a color wheel complement each other. For example red & green are complementary colors and have good contrast, but their values are similar - so they do not make a good combination. Colors next to each other on the color wheel, such as blue and green, make a real poor color combination since their contrast is similar in hue & value. It is hard to see their contrast thus hard to read your Sign! Alternating colors produce the best color combinations for signs since they have a good contrast in both hue and value!
BLACK works well with any light color, and WHITE contrasts with any dark color.
